Welcome: Talking About Our Lives
- In this lesson we talk about work, travel and free time.
- We will practise grammar, speaking, reading and writing.
- Example: 'I work in accounting and I love traveling.'
- Think about your last vacation. What did you do?
2
Use of English: Past Simple
- We use the past simple for finished actions in the past.
- Regular verbs: 'work' → 'worked', 'travel' → 'traveled'.
- Irregular verbs: 'go' → 'went', 'have' → 'had', 'see' → 'saw'.
- Example: 'Last month, she went to Rio and saw a samba show.'
- Practice: Change to past simple — 'I play volleyball every weekend.'
3
Use of English: Comparatives & Superlatives
- We use comparatives to compare two things: 'more', '-er'.
- We use superlatives for the best or worst: 'most', '-est'.
- Example: 'The beach is more relaxing than the office.'
- Example: 'This is the best coffee shop in the city.'
- Practice: Compare 'volleyball' and 'running' — which is more fun?
4
Use of English: Future Plans
- We use 'going to' for plans we already decided.
- We use 'will' for quick decisions or promises.
- Example: 'I'm going to visit my brother in the US next year.'
- Example: 'I think I will have lunch at the new samba place.'
- Practice: Write a plan for your next vacation.
5
Speaking: My Daily Routine
- Work with a partner and talk about your typical week.
- Use modals: 'I have to check the accounts every Monday.'
- Talk about exercise: 'I should exercise more often.'
- Ask: 'What did you do last weekend?'
- Share your favorite place for lunch or coffee.
6
Reading: A Postcard From Brazil
- Read a short postcard about a beach vacation.
- 'Last week, I went to the beach with my friends.'
- 'We played volleyball and then had lunch at a nice restaurant.'
- 'In the evening, we visited a samba place. It was amazing!'
- Answer: Where did she go? What did she do first?
7
Reading & Grammar: Present Perfect
- We use present perfect with 'ever', 'never', 'just', 'already'.
- Example: 'Have you ever been to a samba show?'
- Example: 'I have never tried Brazilian coffee before.'
- Example: 'She has already finished the accounting report.'
- Practice: Ask your partner three questions with 'ever'.
8
Writing: Plan Your Perfect Day
- Write six sentences about your ideal day off.
- Use past simple for what you did yesterday.
- Use 'going to' for what you will do tomorrow.
- Include: exercise, the beach, coffee, and lunch with friends.
