📖 Reading

Every June, my family celebrates a special festival called the Lantern Day. My grandmother started this tradition thirty years ago, and now everyone in our town joins us. Last year, more than two hundred people came to our street party! On the morning of Lantern Day, children make paper lanterns at school. They use colourful paper, glue, and a small light inside. My little brother made a red lantern shaped like a fish. He was very proud of it because it was bigger than his friend's lantern. In the evening, families walk to the river together. Everyone carries a lantern and sings traditional songs. Last year, it was raining a little, but nobody wanted to stay home. We just used umbrellas and continued walking! When we arrived at the river, we put our lanterns on the water and watched them float away. After the walk, there is always a big dinner in the town square. People bring different dishes: soup, rice, chicken, and sweet cakes. My favourite part is the cake because my aunt makes it every year, and she has never forgotten to bring it. This year, the festival will be even bigger because a famous singer is going to perform. My family is already planning what food to bring. I think Lantern Day is the best celebration of the year because it brings the whole town together.
