📖 Reading

Maria is a student from Spain, and last month she moved to a small flat near her university. She was excited but a little nervous because she had never lived alone before. On her first day, she made a shopping list for the kitchen. At the supermarket, Maria felt confused. She needed some rice, a little sugar, and a few apples, but she also wanted some advice about cooking. An old man next to her was choosing vegetables carefully. She asked him, 'Excuse me, how much rice do I need for one person?' He smiled and said, 'Not much! Just a cup is enough.' The man's name was Mr. Lopez, and he loved cooking. He told Maria that many students buy too much food and then waste it. He said, 'Buy a little bread, some milk, and a few eggs. Don't buy too many things at once.' Maria listened carefully and wrote everything down. By the end of the week, Maria had cooked her first real meal: rice with vegetables and eggs. She didn't have much money, but she had enough food for three days. She felt proud of herself. Now, every Saturday, she goes to the same supermarket and looks for Mr. Lopez. They talk about food, and she is learning a lot of new recipes from him.
