Last Saturday, Mia went to a big music competition with her school choir. She felt very nervous before the show. Her hands were shaking, and her heart was beating fast. She kept thinking, "What if I forget the words?"
When the choir walked onto the stage, Mia looked at the audience. Her best friend, Sara, was sitting in the front row. Sara smiled and gave a thumbs up. Suddenly, Mia felt calmer. She remembered all the practice they did together after school.
The choir sang two songs. During the first song, Mia was still a little worried, but by the second song, she felt happy and excited. She loved the music, and she could see that the audience enjoyed it too. Some people were smiling, and others were clapping in time with the song.
After the show, the judges announced the winners. The choir did not win first place, but they got second place. Mia was disappointed for a moment, but then she looked at her friends. They were all laughing and hugging each other. "We did our best, and we had fun," said their teacher. Mia realised that she felt proud, not sad. It had been a great day after all.
