Last Saturday, Maria went to the new shopping mall in her city. It was her sister's birthday, and Maria wanted to buy a special present. She took a bus to the mall at ten o'clock in the morning. The mall was already busy with families and young people.
First, Maria looked in a clothes shop. She saw a beautiful blue dress, but it was too expensive. Then she found a nice scarf. It was soft and colourful, and it wasn't very expensive. Maria decided to buy it for her sister. The shop assistant was very friendly and helped her choose a box for the present.
After that, Maria felt hungry, so she went to a small café for lunch. She had a sandwich and a cup of tea. While she was eating, she saw her friend Tom. He was carrying many shopping bags. 'I'm buying things for my new flat,' he said. 'I've just bought a lamp and some plates.' Maria and Tom talked for twenty minutes and then said goodbye.
In the afternoon, Maria visited a bookshop and a shoe shop, but she didn't buy anything else. Before she went home, she checked her bag to make sure the scarf was safe. She was very happy with her day. She thinks her sister will love the present, and she can't wait to see her face tomorrow at the birthday party.
