📖 Reading

Lucy lives in a small town, but she works in the city. Every morning, she has to travel twenty kilometres to her office. Last year, she always drove her car to work. However, the traffic was often very bad, and she was late many times. Two months ago, she decided to try something new. Now Lucy takes the train every day. The train station is only a five-minute walk from her house. She buys a monthly ticket, so it is cheaper than driving. She usually reads a book or listens to music during the journey. She thinks the train is more relaxing than the car, and it is also better for the environment. Yesterday, something exciting happened. While Lucy was waiting for her train, she met her old friend Mark. They were classmates at school, but they hadn't seen each other for ten years! Mark was going to visit his parents in the city, so they sat together and talked during the whole trip. Lucy said it was the best train journey she has ever had. Lucy's brother, Tom, still prefers his bicycle. He says cycling is faster than the bus for short distances, and it keeps him fit. Last week, he cycled to work every day because the weather was lovely. But when it rains, he usually takes the bus instead. Both Lucy and Tom agree that people should think more carefully about how they travel. Small changes, they say, can make a big difference.
